A subsidiary of Jospong Group of Companies, Subah Infosolutions Ghana Limited, has assured Parliament of its readiness to help minimise drastically the many land litigation cases that continue to bedevil this nation.

According to Subah, issues related to land and property ownership, which has been an albatross on the necks of successive governments in the country, will end if government subscribes to their newly developed software.

In an interaction with members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry at their headquarters in Accra yesterday, Director of Property Databank, Prof. Felix Hammond, who developed the software, explained that plans were far-advanced to make the software accessible to all the major stakeholders to help eradicate the menace.

Prof. Hammond described the software as “a permanent panacea to ease the hectic and cumbersome nature land and property had to go through to access site plans and other valuable land information documentations.”

He added that the software has been uniquely designed to deal with cases that may arise from ownership information that has been a bane for individuals who want to buy or rent houses in the country.

An acceptance of the software by government, according to Prof. Hammond, will also help banks to trace the validity of customers who use their properties as collaterals to access loan facilities because of the unique and advanced features embedded in the application to complement the public addressing system, which was introduced by the previous government.

He revealed that though the project was wholly sponsored by private individuals, their aim of meeting the World Band and ISO Standards and the Ghana National Framework for street naming has never been compromised to ensure users have accurate and precise information when they access the software.

For his part, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry, Hon. Owusu-Bio Benito, described Subah’s innovation as a major boost in the fight against land litigation in the country.

He advised the various stakeholders and sector agencies including the Police Service, Land Commission, the Ambulance Service and the Local Government Ministry to cooperate effectively to feed Subah with their concerns to help enhance and improve on the software to become a national asset.

“This is something we have always been yearning for and I am optimistic Ghana will stand to benefit a lot if this is pushed through to the latter,” Chairman Owusu-Bio Benito stated.
