Bismark Amponsah who is the bursar of the Issah Youth Leadership Training Institute was rushed to a near-by clinic and later transferred to the Wa Regional Hospital.

Narrating the incident to Myjoyonline.com, the Wa Divisional commander Chief Superintendent Stephen Tane Ngissah said a spontaneous demonstration started at about 9:30pm Thursday.

Agitation among student has been growing. The students have been expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of food served them at the dining hall.

They had also been complaining about the payment of an item on the student bill, ICT fees, although no classes were held on ICT.

Displeased by the conduct of the students, the authorities before the mid-term break directed the students to report to school with their guardians to sign a bond of good behaviour.

Those who failed to do so were denied entry into the school after the mid-term break.

The Wa Divisional commander explained these issues contributed to the impulsive action organised by some aggrieved students during lights out.

He said at least 18 police officers were dispatched to stop the disturbances as the rampaging students destroyed school property and attacking every school official on sight.

The police officers had to rescue the bursar from the attacks of the students. The students had tied a rope around his neck and was strangling him.

Teachers and the principal had fled to the police station after their efforts to calm tempers failed.
