According to Braimah Mohammed Bawah the classrooms have been deserted with many of the pupils playing truant in his constituency.

The suspension of the policy early this year was as a result of the takeover of the management of the programme by party foot soldiers.

Shortly after the NPP won the 2016 elections, supporters of the party across the country went on rampage sacking women employed by the school feeding programme to feed school children.

In some cases, the women were attacked, their foods items destroyed and warned not to continue preparing the food.

The NPP supporters claim their colleagues in the NDC had taken over the management of the programme when the NPP lost power in 2009 and its time for them to takeover since they are back in power.

The Ejura Sekyeredumase Assembly therefore decided to suspend the programme entirely at least until the political interference is resolved.

That, Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyedumase says is having a toll on education in the area and must be resolved.

The MP is therefore asking Parliament to compel the Assembly to resume the implementation of the programme.

Joy News’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo reported that the Speaker Prof Mike Ocquaye has referred the matter to the Education, Gender and Social Protection Ministries to investigate and advice.

The Speaker is asking the ministeries to suggest how the country will be able to resolve the issue of thuggery that has attended the implementation of the policy.

The two ministries have one month to make their recommendations.
