At least six persons have been rounded up by the police in the Nanumba South district of the Northern region following the death of a Konkomba man in Lungni which sparked tribal tension and fears of unrest.
The suspects were picked up Friday evening after angry family members marched to the police threatening reprisal attack.
The police until the arrest took better part of the day engaging in peace talks with the irked relatives of the dead.
Police have confirmed the development to Starr News but refused to divulge number of persons arrested.
The District Police commander, ASP Paul Aboagye, said: “That is true, some people have been picked up. For that (referring to those arrested) you know we can’t do it on air. We are investigating; so we are on it.”
The deceased, identified as a tractor operator working in neighboring Togo, came on a family visit to the community.
He went missing a few days after an alleged violent confrontation with some Basari tribesmen.
His body was later found in a nearby bushland decomposed with some parts washed away after intense search by community members.
Reports suggested he was butchered to death after deep cuts was found on the body including an open stomach.
