The Ghana Music Honours was established in 2012 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to the Ghanaian society; from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals.
The honour is awarded by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry.
The Awards have grown over theyears and now has 20 categories adjudged by an academy of musicians (peers) and one popular category voted for by the general public.
The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists and is an event attended strictly by the invitation of the Union. Over the years, invitees have been musicians, outstanding members of the Ghanaian society and members of the diplomatic corp.
Best Band Honour
This honour goes to the music band(s) adjudged by their peers to be the most outstanding in the year
under review. This band must have played several prominent shows and distinguished themselves.

This honour goes to an individual(s) or organization that has contributed immensely in diverse ways
over the years to the development and betterment of the Ghana music industry.
Music Promoter Honour
This honour is given to an individual(s) or organization whose contribution to the promotion of
Ghanaian music and musicians locally or internationally has been outstanding over the years.
Evergreen Highlife Artist Honour
This honour goes to an artist(s) adjudged by their peers to be the most outstanding in the Highlife
genre over the years.
Evergreen Hiplife Artist Honour
Evergreen Gospel Artist Honour
This honour goes to an artist(s) adjudged by their peers to be the most outstanding Gospel artist over
the years.
President’s Choice Honour
The ‘President’s Choice Honour’ goes to an individual or organization adjudged by the President of
MUSIGA as having contributed immensely to the development of MUSIGA and Ghanaian music in
general.
