Sadio Mane’s family home in Senegal was reportedly attacked after his country were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Liverpool winger missed the decisive penalty as Senegal crashed out in the quarter-final against Cameroon.
His relatives live in Malika near the capital city of Dakar, with the home targeted after the exit.
It is reported the family were again threatened at Mane’s uncle’s house with a £25,000 car vandalised.
A source told the Sun : “They turned their fury on his car and completely trashed it.
“Mane’s uncle and his family have reported these persons to the police.
“We just hope they will get the punishment they deserve.”
Mane was back to his best as Liverpool ended their winless run with an excellent performance against Tottenham on Saturday.
The 24-year-old scored twice for Jurgen Klopp’s men and his boss was understandably full of praise for his player.
“Any team in the world would have missed Sadio in January,’ said the German.
“You need somebody who scores at the end of moves. Sadio was fantastic and could have scored a third one. It is no problem for me to talk about his performance but I saw a lot of good ones.”
