A video going viral has caused a stir in the sporting community, as it allegedly involves the use of black magic in football. In the video which captured a game between the Rwandan Premier League teams of Mukura Victory and Rayon Sports saw a Rayon Sports forward, Moussa Camara attempting to place the alleged charm by the goal post of the host.

The player attempted to place the alleged item after his team was losing by a goal. He was, however, not successful as he was swiftly attacked by the goalkeeper of Mukura Victory and other players. Camara then ran and handed over the item to a fellow player of his on the bench, before coming back to show his empty hand to the referee.

He did not, however, escape a card as the referee immediately issued him a yellow card. Less than 10 minutes into the game, Camara was able to score and get back his team into the game.

In a swift reaction, the Rwandan football body came out to ban the use of witchcraft in football. The body took the strong stance to ensure players and clubs do not take any undue advantage to win games, which could make the game lose its beauty.

According to the FA, any player involved in the use of juju or witchcraft in football games will be made to pay the sum of 100,000 Rwandan Francs which is almost $121. Any club that involves itself in it will lose three points and face a fine of 2.9million RWF (over $3,533).

The FA’s Vice President, Vedasite Kayiranga, said before now there was no law as it has not been proven that the use of witchcraft or black magic in football can influence the outcome of a game. Now, however, because “of allegations that one team is using it, we have decided to enact laws.”
