He has also assured the people of the Upper West region of government’s commitment to complete ongoing projects to boost agriculture and open up the economy of the area to create opportunities for the youth.

Mr Julius Debrah, who is on a six-day campaign tour, was speaking during a courtesy call on the Wa Naa. He was accompanied by Minister of State in charge Public-Private Partnerships Rashid Pelpuo, Upper West regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani, aspiring MPs and some regional executives of the party.

In a brief welcome address, Wa Naa, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo commended government for the bold initiatives and development projects in the area.

Naa Fuseini Pelpuo who is also the President of the Waala Traditional Council asked for Allah’s blessing to guide the President, John Mahama, his Vice and Chief of Staff and other appointees of government to continue their good work.

He also took the opportunity to invite the President through the Chief of Staff, to grace the occasion of the Damba Festival which will climax in early 2017.

Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah noted that the destiny of Ghana and that of other nations, cannot not be bargained on trial and error basis.

“If the system is working we must keep it going to bring about the change we desire. Countries like Malaysia have achieved progress not because they changed governments but because they kept governments that were working,” he told the traditional leaders gathered at the palace.

He explained that after the official launch of the NDC 2016 manifesto, the President, John Mahama who is currently attending the 71st UN General Assembly meeting in New York, delegated him to present some of the details to the Wa Naa and his people.

Mr Julius Debrah also accepted a request to visit the Wa Polytechnic to assess progress of work there. He reminded the Chiefs about NDC’s plan to build modern stadia at all regional capitals and said Wa All Stars will soon benefit from one of such facilities.

Present at the Wa Naa’s palace were 10 Paramount Chiefs and over 50 sub-Chiefs. They included Naa Saalu Mahama of the Builsa Traditional area, the Sawla Naa, Dzikpe Naa, Seng Paramount Chief, Taare Naa, and the Naa Gulé. The Council of elders present included the Paramount chiefs of Bolé, Kperisi and Bosaa.

The Wa Naa presented smock, a traditional dress to the Chief of Staff in honour of the respect shown him.

Earlier Mr Julius Debrah received a warm welcome from the people including NDC foot soldiers, who lined up the streets through to the residency.

The Chief of Staff is also expected to tour Nadowli, Nandom, Lawra, Bulenga, Kaleo and other communities where he will showcase some achievements of the government and interact with the people.
