A two-storey building dormitory, the biggest of the school, was razed down by fire on the March, 21 2017 at atbout 8:30pm when students had gone for prep. It housed a total of 500 students.

Belongings of students including mattress, school uniforms, stationery, and money were lost in the fire.

During a visit to the school, the regent said he would do all he can to ensure the building is renovated before the rainy season so that academic work could progress.

“I will contact government and other societies for assistance to renovate the structure before the rains set in,” he assured.

He donated yards of white and khaki materials, boxes of detergent and mathematical sets, to ease the burden of students.

“The trauma alone is something to worry about…Father, the church should try and assist; the church isn’t poor so in the meantime, [it] should not be a challenge at all. Myself together with my chiefs will come in with all we have” he promised.

Accompanying the regent were six traditional heads, including Ghana’s former ambassador to Burkina Faso and also the Chief of Sagnerigu, Alhaji Yakubu Andani, the Chief of Kasuli-Yilli, Kasuli-Lana, Alhaji Yakubu Bukari, and eight divisional chiefs of the Dagbon Kingdom.

Meanwhile, he urged those writing the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to put in their best in order to get best results in 2017.

He said: “My presence here as an old boy should encourage you to study hard and I challenge you to make sure this year’s WASSCE results is the best”.

The headmaster Mr Pollicup assured the regent and his entourage the items donated would be put to good use.
