Prof Frimpong-Boateng Awarded ‘Legend of the Year’; Gets 24-Carat Gold Medal

The renowned heart-surgeon was addressing health practitioners at the maiden edition of People’s Choice Practitioners Awards ceremony at which he was adjudged the ‘Legend of the Year’ for his immense contribution in the development of medical practice over the past two and half decades.

Seventeen (17) other individuals including multiple award-winning artiste, Okyeame Kwame were also honoured for their role in health development.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng was presented with a 24 carat gold medal for his contributions to cardiothoracic practice.

He also has a state-of-the-art first aid centre, equipped with three ambulances and a helicopter ambulance named after him.

Okyeame Kwame, on the other hand, was honoured for his work in the fight against hepatitis B since 2009.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who graced the occasion suggested to the organizers to institutionalize the event to serve as a motivation for healthcare practitioners.

He stressed on the need for healthcare practitioners to uphold professionalism in discharging their duties.

He commended Professor Frimpong Boateng for initiating the Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle Bu and charged him to help establish one in the Ashanti region.

Professor Frimpong Boateng charged healthcare practitioners to work diligently towards putting smiles on the faces of their clients.

The maiden award scheme is a national medico-social initiative geared towards celebrating excellence in the health sector.

Dr. Benedicta Ohene-Manu, Managing Director of Media Men Ghana Limited, organisers of the scheme, said the goal was to inspire health professionals to work with passion and dedication to bring relief to their patients.
