The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised calls for investigation into an alleged security breach by Innolink, the company printing the ballot papers for the Greater Accra and Volta Regions. Innolink Ghana Limited, happens to be one of the companies contracted to print ballot papers for this year’s election.

The major opposition had accused the company of handing the printing plates of the presidential ballot paper to a man believed to be an official of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC). The party now calls for investigation by government into the matter. To show their determination to discover the truth, some members of the NPP picketed at the offices of the said company few days ago, in protest of the suspected activity.

Innolink has continued to denied the NPP’s allegations. The company organized a press conference on November 23, to tell their side of the story to the perturbed Ghanaian public. During the conference, the company described the allegations as false and called on the public to disregard them.

Business Development Manager of the company Kingsley Kofi Addo, who spoke at the conference said that all the printing plates for the presidential ballots were intact at the company’s printing house; adding that no such incident took place.

But despite their denial, the opposition party still insists the company is conniving with the NDC to rig the elections. In a recent statement released by the NPP, the party wants government to commence the Innolink investigation immediately, to avoid a repeat of the irregularities that rocked the 2012 elections.

The NPP has in recent times hurled many rigging allegations at the incumbent party. On several occasions, the party has alleged that the Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei, is plotting to rig the elections in favour of NDC’s President Mahama.

Similar allegations by the NPP include; EC’s printing of some pink sheets without serial numbers to manipulate figures, as well as the Commission’s plot to deploy faulty Biometric Verification Devices BVDs to NPP’s strongholds.
