The chiefs and people of the area were full of gratitude for the government’s intervention in the provision of these development projects, and installed him as Nkosuohene of Kwahu.

President Mahama on Wednesday October 26 commissioned the newly built SHS at Kwahu Fodoa in the Eastern Region where he is visiting as part of campaign activities ahead of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He told the gathering: “The school blocks have the letter E written on them; it means excellence. And, so, if we will have excellence, it means the chiefs and the leaders of the Zongo communities and everyone in this community should pay attention to what goes on in the school in order to ensure that the teaching and learning process is going on smoothly.”

He added: “Out of the 200 schools, 30 per cent, representing 60 of them, will be converted into technical schools to train technical minds. Since independence, the educational system has gradually changed. Ghana at the moment needs industries and those industries also need people trained in technical skills to work with. They need welders, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, masons, crane operators, excavator operators, and, so, there is the need to train students in these areas.

“And, so, out of the 200 schools we are building, 30 per cent, that is 60 of them, will be converted into technical schools so that the children will be trained in vocational and technical courses in order to get these jobs.”
