On the occasion of the Muslim feast of Eid ul-Adha, Muslims and other Ghanaians have been urged by the Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Koku Anyidoho, to say special prayers for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) so he could stop “lying”.

Mr. Anyidoho, who had been asked to send a special message to Muslims on Accra100.5FM on September 12 on the occasion of the feast, also said that Muslim youth should not be tarred with the same brush of violence.

However, he singled out the vice-presidential nominee of the leading opposition group, saying he was “violent” person and a “liar”, given that he had failed to offer evidence to back his claims that there were some 76,000 Togolese on Ghana’s electoral roll. Mr. Anyidoho said the former Second Deputy Bank of Ghana Governor’s assertions were a recipe for disorder in the country.

He told host Chief Jerry Forson: “Let us not brand Muslim youth as violent. It is wrong to brand Muslim youth as violent. They are celebrating their festival. All we can pray is that they will do it in peace, but we should not say Muslim youth are violent.”

“The only violent person in this country is Bawumia, who lied about the voters’ register and sought to create confusion in this country, so Bawumia must be prayed for so that he will stop lying about the voters’ register.”

He also urged Ghanaians to pray for “peaceful” elections, “with the hope that at the end of the day Ghana will continue to remain united”.
