The Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has discounted any possibility of his party joining forces with another party to contest in the upcoming general elections following his disqualification from the race.

Nduom, who is currently challenging his disqualification as the PPP Flagbearer, said in a Facebook post on Thursday that, the PPP was an independent party and will not join any other political party for the election.

“Our Party is independent and is not joining any other political party for this election,” he said.

He was optimistic that PPP parliamentary candidates across the country will receive massive endorsement from electorates in the upcoming polls.

“I know that PPP Parliamentary Candidates are winning seats in all ten regions,” he stressed.

“They have worked hard and won support in their communities. Ghana needs them in Parliament to lead in bringing about the changes to the 1992 Constitution that will make our country Great and Strong. Such as the election of district, municipal and metropolitan chief executives,” Dr. Nduom said in his post.

He said all parliamentary candidates of the party had received clearance from the EC to contest in the polls on December 7, and pledged his support to all of the candidates to ensure they win their respective seats.

“Our Parliamentary Candidates have been cleared by the Electoral Commission to contest the December 7, 2016 elections. I will be there, to campaign and support our Parliamentary Candidates to win. And win we must,” he concluded.

‘EC disqualifies 13 aspirants’

The EC disqualified 13 presidential aspirants, including the PPP’s Papa Kwesi Nduom from contesting in the December polls for their inability to appropriately fill their nomination forms as required by electoral laws.

Others include the People’s National Convention’s Dr. Edward Mahama, and the Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC).

The EC however cleared the National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama, the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo, the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet and Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent candidate to contest in the polls.
