PPP Running Mate Confident of Victory; Targets 10 Seats In Brong Ahafo

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Ms Brigitte Dzogbenuku, has predicted that the party will make a positive impact in the December 7, 2016 general election.

She said that PPP’s ideals, policies and messages were so appealing to the electorate that the party was expecting massive votes in the December 7 elections.

Ms Dzogbenuku made the prediction in an interview with the Daily Graphic at Akyem Awisa last week after attending the annual Odwira festival of the people of Awisa.

According to her, the PPP is an objective party and eschews the politics of insults, vilification and character assassination.

Ghanaians want change

“Ghanaians want a change from the leading political parties which have at one time or the other ruled the nation and have realised that the PPP is the alternative political entity to give them lasting relief,” she emphasised.

Ms Dzogbenuku said as a social worker who had worked with the Ghana Aviation Social Centre for 12 years, she would use her rich experience and credibility to convince a large number of the electorate to vote for the PPP in the upcoming general election.

According to her, many girls she had personally mentored nationwide were also in the field campaigning for the PPP.

The PPP, Madam Dzogbenuku said, would continue to grow in size day by day.

She appealed to the electorate to try the PPP in the December 7, 2016 general election for Ghanaians to see a positive transformation in their lives. She said the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party governments failed to do that.

Ms Dzogbenuku said she accepted to become the running mate of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom because she realised that after voting for other political parties in the past, they could not deliver and that the PPP’s ideals appealed to her conscience.

Relatedly, the Brong Ahafo Regional branch of the PPP has targeted to win 10 out of the 29 parliamentary seats in the region during the December 7 general election.

“Nobody should take us for granted, since we are going to cause a stir on December 7 after the results of the elections have been declared,” the Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Prince Kwasi Adumatta, told the Daily Graphic on the sidelines of a meeting held to strategise how to win the targeted seats.

Targeted seats

Mr Adumatta explained that the party would contest the entire 29 seats in the region but was hopeful of winning the Tano South, Atebubu-Amantin, Techiman North, Techiman South, Sunyani East and the Wenchi constituencies, among other areas.

“The political dynamics in the country is fast changing and those who still consider certain places as their strongholds will live to regret at the end of the day,” he said.

“Let the other parties go about making promises that cannot be fulfilled. We can point out what our flag bearer has been able to do to provide employment for people in all districts across the country”.

Mr Adumatta added that the PPP had come to stay while its campaign messages had been accepted by Ghanaians who were fed up with the unfulfilled promises of the NDC and the NPP.

“Ghanaians are now politically awakened and are aware of the economic realities of the country and will not believe in economic successes being touted by the government,” he said.
