The said members, Mumuni Jabil and one Abu, allegedly assaulted a senior police officer at the Flagstaff House when the NPP in January.

This was made known by Interior Minister Ambrose Dery when he answered a question posed by Kumbungu Member of Parliament Ras Mubarak on Thursday 22 March.

“Mr Speaker, I’m aware of a complaint made by one ASP Nanka Bruce, Director in Charge of VVIP at the Flagstaff House, on 9 January, 2017, in which he reported an alleged assault on him by an ex-policeman named Mumuni Jabil and one Abu. The matter is currently under investigation by the Police CID and efforts are being made to get the suspects arrested,” he stated.

“The police in an effort to have the suspects arrested among others published a picture of Mumuni Jabil in the 18 March, 2017 edition of the Daily Guide newspaper. The same story was also published on Ghana Web on 16 March, 2017. And an Accra Circuit Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mumuni Jabil.”

It is recalled that soon after the NPP took over power, the video went viral where an officer, believed to be part of the guards at the Flagstaff House during the John Mahama administration, was seen rushing out of the presidency to seek refuge in a police car, but was stopped by an armed military officer and subsequently manhandled and forced out of the car, despite attempts by senior police officers to restore order.
