The Private Enterprise Federation (PEF) has hinted on plans to collaborate with the president-elect to execute his one-district-one-factory campaign promise.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo prior to his election as president had promised to establish a factory in every district across the country. The promise forms part of his plans to create jobs and consequently reduce unemployment among Ghanaian youths.

Since after making the promise, many have criticized it, describing it as infeasible. However, report from 3news has revealed that PEF will help Nana Addo implement the one district, one factory policy immediately after he is sworn in as president.

Speaking to 3FM Business, CEO of PEF, Nana Osei Bonsu announced that plans have already been put in place to achieve this development project. According to him, the Akufo-Addo government is not going to do it alone, but with the collaboration of the private sector.

Osei Bonsu revealed that PEF has already started creating business district coalitions. He explained that with the partnership being established, the one district one factory promise will be made a reality in order to create more employment opportunities in the country.

He further pointed out that, “If we manage the economy well and reduce our debt burden, then we can be sure of an enabling sector that can support private sector development.”

In addition to the one factory per district policy, the NPP also promised to effect a reduction in electricity and utility tariffs, restore the trainee teachers and nurses allowances, implement the Free SHS policy to take care of both boarding and day students, and generally fix the economy.
