President John Dramani Mahama has said the ruling National Democratic Congress is a party that stands for peace and is against the “all-die-be-die” mantra by the opposition NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The President addressing supporters at Ahomahomasu in the Fanteakwa North constituency on day two of his five-day tour of the Eastern region said the NDC has always stood for peace and would ensure that this year’s election is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
“As I have always said, we the NDC, we don’t want violence, we don’t accept all-die-be-die, we are peaceful people, that is why Professor Mills was called asomdwehene.
“We know that if everything goes well and the elections are conducted in a free, fair and peaceful environment, NDC will emerge victorious. We in the NDC, we don’t discriminate at all we welcome everybody, so when we are re-elected Fanteakwa constituency will be one of our priorities.”
The all-die-be-die comments was made by Akufo-Addo in the run up to the 2012 elections.
Akufo-Addo has consistently explained that the comment was a call on NPP supporters to be vigilant during that year’s election.
President Mahama also stated that his government has increased cocoa producer price with record high price in the history of Ghana and urged his supporters to vote in their numbers to ensure that the NDC is retained in this year’s election.
