This, according to  the legendary Ghanaian boxer, would inevitably hasten the pace of development in the country.

Crowned as the greatest African boxer of all time, Azumah indicated that, the only way “ we can  support Ghana  is to show our commitment in building a prosperous nation”.

Sharing his experiences and contributions in his illustrious twenty years career as a professional boxer on Eezy FM in Accra, Azumah disclosed that his love, passion and determination to set Ghana on a good pedestal for international recognition was his key for surviving in the sport.

He divulged that any nation deficient in its ability to unite peacefully to foster a positive co-existence cannot experience any meaningful development.

To this end he advised that Ghanaians put the past behind them and do away with divisiveness and negative tendencies and forge ahead in harmony.

“We have wronged ourselves so much with politics and everything around us as a nation”, Azumah said.

According to him, “before there can be peace, we have to behave in a manner that will bring peace. We do not have to conduct ourselves in a way that will threaten the peace a brother enjoys. So peace and proper conduct go together. We should watch our actions. If we have been put in charge of a task, we must be honest in our dealings, if we allow such honesty and upright behaviour to lead us, peace will naturally be ours.”

Azumah played a significant role in Ghana’s 60th Independence day anniversary celebrations by carrying the torch used to light the perpetual flame by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He expressed worry that after 60 years of liberation Ghana had still not found her bearing in the world of sports but was hopeful that all the mistakes learnt in the past would be corrected to restore the fortunes of the nation.
