A Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Lawson has slammed the Founder and Head of Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, describing him as a “charlatan”.
According to him, certain comments by the so-called man of God are questionable therefore should not be taken seriously.
George Lawson’s vitriolic attacks comes after Rev Owusu Bempah, on Thursday alleged that Mahama-led NDC government made an attempt to bribe him some time ago.
The government was, however, warned to rescind that decision since he would expose them.
“The NDC made an attempt to bribe me some time ago but they were advised not to do it because I would have exposed them. They did not come to me directly but someone warned them against the plan after deciding to come and bribe me,” he stated in support of the claim by Rev Prof Martey that some politicians also attempted to bribe him with $100,000, a V8 vehicle and a promise to secure him a mansion at Trassaco Villa, to gag him from making critical comments on issues of nation concern.
But Mr. Lawson who vowed not to personally waste his time on “charlatans” like Rev. Owusu-Bempah, urged the populace never to give the ‘prophet’ an ear nor attach any form of seriousness to his messages.
“Owusu Bempah is not a man of God and so I don’t understand why his followers are still with him. For me, anything he says is over board because he is doing business as a man of God and selling himself. In fact, he is a business man” he asserted.
Denying claims by Rev Owusu Bempah that some big wigs in the ruling government attempted to bribe him, Mr Lawson wondered why he [Owusu Bempah] is consistently portraying himself as a man of God “when indeed he is not”.
“How can you say that the NDC is noted for giving bribes. In NDC we don’t give bribes” he stated.
But in a quick rebuttal, Rev Owusu Bempah on the same show said “No member of the NPP has attempted to bribe me before. It is the NDC who attempted to bribe me. They are fond of doing that.
He added, “The NDC should be careful because everyone is entitled to express his or her opinion in this country. We are men of God and so if something is not going well, we have to say it as it is.
“If the EC is doing something that can cause mayhem, we have to talk about it but that does not mean we are supporting one political party”.
