Ould Khelifa To Represent Algerian President At Ghana@60 Celebrations

The president of Algeria Abdelaziz Bouteflika has designated the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) Dr Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa to represent him in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Ghana’s independence which will take place in Accra (Ghana) on Monday, March 6.

This was confirmed in a communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Algerian Republic.

“In response to the invitation he received from his Excellency Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, president of the Republic of Ghana, his Excellency Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the Republic designated Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly to represent him in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Ghana, which will take place on 6 March 2017 in Accra,” the communiqué said.

Background of Dr Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa

Dr Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa is a member of the National Liberation Front Party (FLN) and was elected in May 2012 to the National People’s Congress under the seventh parliamentary term.

He was elected President of the National People’s Congress for a five-year term. Born on 24 December 1938 in Ain Draham, Dr Ould Khelifa is from a family originally from Azro Kollel, Ain El Hammam, in Djurdjura.

Attended primary and secondary school in Algeria and Tunisia.

Has obtained his Baccalaureate, Sciences Series, with honors.

Holder of a degree in philosophy and social sciences (Egypt) 1963 with the mention very well.

Doctorate in the specialty social psychology with honors.

Diploma in Social Research Methods (University of London United Kingdom) 1974.

Member of the Union of Algerian writers since 1965.

Assistant Professor (1969) and Professor of Research Methods at the University of Algiers 1975.

Head of Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences and Laboratory of Physiological Psychology 1971-1972.

Director of Graduate Studies at the Institute of Social Sciences 1974-1977.

Member elected to the Academy of Arabic Language in Damascus (2003).

Secretary-General of the Academy of the Arabic Language 1998.

Founding member of the Association of International Relations (ASI) 1992.

Member of the Foundation “Emir Abdelkader” (FEA) 1996.

President of the High Council for the Arabic Language 2001-2012

Participated in several Arab, African and European seminars and symposia.

Conducted lectures in China, Spain, the United States, France and Iran. He has also hosted conferences in Arab countries such as Morocco, Mauritania, Egypt (the Arab League), Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and others ……. .

Honored in recognition of his efforts in the cultural and scientific field by the President of the Republic of Algeria in 1984.

He was honored by the Ministry of the Mojahedin for his works concerning the Algerian revolution in 2005.

Honored several times by scientific institutions and organizations, the most recent honor is that of the University of Oran in 2011.

Mastery, in addition to Arabic, several foreign languages.

Joined the Secret Organization of the Front and the National Liberation Army from an early age.

Member of the Permanent Secretariat of the FLN 1979-1980.

Member of the Central Committee and the Permanent Secretariat of the FLN 1979/1984.\Advisor to Cultural and Social Affairs at the FLN from 1965 to 1979.

Secretary of State for Culture and Popular Arts 1980-1982.

Secretary of State for Secondary and Technical Education 1982-1984.

Ambassador of Algeria to Yemen 1985-1988.

Ambassador of Algeria to Iran 1988-1991.

1st Vice-President of the National Commission for Presidential Elections and then Acting President from December 1998 to April 1999.

Was decorated with the Order of the Resistance.
