Founder, Leader and Flagbearer of the United Progressive Party (UPF) Akwasi Addai popularly called Odike, is challenging the occupant of the Golden Stool Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to do more than presently witnessed with resources he gets.
He alleges that the Manhyia palace alone, makes huge sums of money which could be compared to taxes accrued by the state and therefore wants the Asante King to expand the scope of his support to subjects and citizens.
The business mogul now turn politician on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Luther King Kwame Adinkra, says he does not understand why “unemployment and poverty is assuming an alarming rate especially among the youth when government takes huge taxes and Manhyia palace also raking in huge sums of money through royalties.”
“Kwame, the youth of this country, especially Ashanti Region are suffering too much. I don’t understand. Look at the amount of money and resources that go to the Manhyia palace on daily basis, “he stressed.
“The amount of money that go to the Palace cannot be compared to the taxes we pay, yet look at the level of deprivation, “he added.
“I am not saying the Asantehene is not doing anything. But I think he can do better than he is doing currently,” he explained.
“My point is that political and traditional leaders are the reason why the youth are suffering today,” he added.
