Otabil’s Comments On ‘fufu’ and ‘complaining’ Is Sheer Hypocrisy

Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin is accusing General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church of “changing his sermons to divert public attention from President Akufo Addo’s incompetence.”

According to Yammin, Pastor Mensah Otabil prior to the December 2016 general elections converted his pulpit into a political platform subjecting the erstwhile government of John Dramani Mahama to severe public backlash.

Joseph Yammin was speaking to host of Abusua Nkommo, Kwame Adinkrah in response to the ICGC Pastor’s comment that fufu has become a number killer of Africans.

Pastor Otabil while speaking on the need for a change in the mindset and attitudes of Africans to facilitate growth and development at the National convocation of the 2017 Springboard Roadshow claimed fufu is killing Africans.

According to him, the process involved in its preparation is unnecessarily stressful and unhygienic.

But Joseph Yammin believes the assertion is a ploy to divert public attention.

He said, “Kwame Ghanaians are suffering today contrary to the numerous promises by Nana Addo and his NPP before the elections.”

“Pastor Mensah Otabil knows Nana Addo cannot fulfill all the promises he made to Ghanaians and so is beginning to throw these funny sermons out there to engage public discussion instead of we talking about Nana’s incompetence,” he added.

Yammin said, all the Pastors that used to criticise John Mahama on their pulpits like my own former Presby moderator, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey have suddenly stopped preaching about politics and governance.”

“Since when did Pastor Otabil realise fufu kills and how many years has he been eating fufu,” he asked.

“The Pastors that criticised John Mahama should be ceriticising Nana Addo for failing to stop dumsor and failing to secure the cedi from falling against the dollar,” he added.

“Today, Pastor Mensah Otabil is preaching to Ghanaians to stop complaining and work towards a good attitude…the same Pastor was complaining under the governance of the NDC, why didn’t he preach the same sermon when John Mahama was the president…this is hypocrisy,” he charged.
