Students of the Kete Krachi Midwifery and Nursing Training in the Krachi West District on Tuesday blocked the way to force Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is on a campaign tour of the Volta Region, to listen to their concerns.

The students wanted to listen to Nana Akufo-Addo on his plans for the restoration of nursing trainee allowances in full if the NPP leader was elected president on December 7.

Nana Akufo Addo redirected his convoy to the school premises to address the students on the matter.

They assured him that they were ready to vote massively for him, if they were assured of the restoration of the allowances in full, saying life at the school was difficult for them following the withdrawal of the allowance as most parents could not pay their fees.

The students also complained of inadequate classrooms, dormitories and staff bungalows which was affecting teaching and learning.

Nana Akufo-Addo told the students that his decision to restore their allowances, which is in the NPP manifesto, was not negotiable, and asked them to vote for him to become President on December 7.

He said leadership was not about youthfulness, but rather knowledge, wisdom and better policies that could improve the living standards of the people.

Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghanaians had experienced untold hardships under President John Mahama’s NDC government and the only thing now was to vote them out.

He asked the students to mobilise citizens of Krachi West to vote for him and the NPP parliamentary candidate.

He said chiefs of all the places he had visited were endorsing him, showing that the wind of change was blowing not only in the region, but everywhere in the country.

Nana Akufo-Addo addressed similar rallies at Dambai, Borae, Nchumuru and Kete krachi with the message of change.
