Speaking to reporters at the Nima residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, the former Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, said the NPP upon assumption of office on January 7 will ensure all former government officials implicated in large-scale corruption under President Mahama are brought to book.

“Mind you, we will take legal action against former government officials who will be implicated in corruption and those found to have misappropriated funds,” elated Adjiri Blankson asserted.

He says the NPP is fully aware of ministers who flown out after casting their ballots for fear that the NDC might lose the elections.

“We know ministers and senior government appointees who traveled abroad because they were not sure of the outcome of the elections. But, they should know that we shall come after them wherever they may be,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo is the president-elect of Ghana after a historic and landslide win over incumbent John Dramani Mahama, the Electoral Commission confirms.

The New Patriotic Party flagbearer polled 5,716,026 votes representing 53.85% in the 2016 elections to give him an edge over the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Mahama, who garnered 4,713,277 votes representing 44.40% of the total votes.

Nana Addo’s party swept the majority in Parliament with over 150 seats.

Declaring the presidential results in Accra, the chairperson of the EC Mrs. Charlotte Osei said the Commission recorded valid votes of over 10,615,361, rejected ballots stood at 1.54% while 10,782,609 represented the total number of people who voted.

Turnout was 68.62%. The official result is without four constituencies whose results were not ready at the time of declaration.
