The New Patriotic Party (NPP) made provision today [Tuesday], for the transportation of over 3,000 students of the University of Ghana to the various constituencies where they will cast their votes on Wednesday.

According to Citi News’ report, hundreds of excited students gathered at the University’s basketball court as early as 2 am on Tuesday, in anticipation of arranged buses to take them to their destinations.

The report also reveal that a lot of people were left frustrated at various bus terminals in Accra due to the eleventh hour transportation arrangements made by political parties.

As NPP transports people today to their respective polling units ahead of tomorrow, NDC is receiving massive backlashes for failing in their duty. A lot of road users have described the situation at motor parks and bus terminals ahead of this year’s general elections as ‘unprecedented’.

The major opposition party had earlier accused the ruling party of confiscating government buses to frustrate their [NPP’s] plans to facilitate the movement of voters to their various constituencies.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, NPP’s National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku said that the massive turnout of students to travel with the NPP buses shows the people’s great desire for change.

Many of the disillusioned students have also been vowing both aloud and under their breath never to vote for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) because of the transportation ordeals which they believe would not have been the way it is if the government had made proper transportation arrangements.

Ghana’s 2016 general election comes off tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7. The long awaited day will see 7 presidential aspirants face off in the contest for the presidency. The two major contenders are Nana Akufo Addo of the major opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
