On behalf of the party’s leadership, Acting General Secretary, John Boadu debunked claims that the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP) has a hand in the recently reported disruption of the country’s peace by alleged NPP loyalists.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast show, John Boadu stated categorically that the NPP has not charged any group or individual to go about the business of vandalizing government properties or hijacking government positions across the country. According to him, it will be unfair to claim that the unacceptable behaviour is being perpetrated by the NPP.

Condemning the alleged chaotic acts, Mr Boadu said that the point of concern is not whether it is an NPP supporter that is involved but the fact that the person has no authority to do so. He therefore called on the Police to take the necessary action against the culprits.

“…The police has a responsibility of protecting lives and property. The police must do their work, if it calls for arrest, they should do it,” John Boadu said.

Several reports have been received that some group of well-built rascals alleged to be supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) stormed some government offices, hijacking positions of authority, destroying properties or generally disturbing the peace of the people. About seven different reports of such cases have so far been reported.

To be precise, about 200 well-built men [aka macho men] who claimed to be members of the NPP’s “Invisible Forces”, reportedly besieged the Golden Jubilee terminal of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), to demand their share of national security jobs.

In a similar event last Friday, a group of NPP supporters thronged the premises of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, to disallow the signing of a supposed last minute contract by the Ashaiman MCE, Ibrahim Baidoo. Also in the Western Region, such group of people reportedly barricaded the office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Bodi. These mischief makers claim that they have the right to get national jobs, take over positions and enjoy other privilages, owing to the fact that their party is now in government.

Meanwhile, a lot of Ghanaians have been complaining that the ruling party is less concerned about these disturbing acts of lawlessness being perpetrated by these miscreants who claim to be party loyalists. However, John Boadu on behalf of the NPP has debunked such claims, shifting the blame to security personnel whom he called on to take the right action against people engaging in such unlawful activities.
