Reports have revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared a 21-day fast and prayers for its members across the country ahead of the December 2016 general elections. According to reports, the fasting and praying activity will begin on Wednesday, November 16 and end on Wednesday, December 7 (the election day).

The programme which is tagged ‘The Battle Is The Lord’s: Declaration Towards Victory and Peace of Ghana’, would commence with a candlelight vigil and prayer service at the Koforidua Jackson Park in the Eastern Region on Wednesday. Night prayers will subsequently be held at all NPP offices in the region and throughout the country on a daily basis, throughout the 21 days.

The coordinator of the event, Jeff Konadu spoke to Daily Guide on some of the plans being made towards the event. He said that they have made arrangements for several pastors from the Eastern Region to participate in the programme. He also indicated that Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah of the Glorious Word Ministry would be the officiating minister at the Wednesday opening ceremony.

Jeff Konadu explained that the NPP’s aim of embarking on the 21-day fast is for them to do their part as humans. He also said that NPP begins 21-day fast, strongly believing that they will win the elections.

We are doing our part as humans and it is our solid belief that Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP shall win the December 7 polls; but we believe in God and it is important to pray to God. Indeed, we are very proud that we would be embarking on this physical exercise that has spiritual implications, Jeff Konadu said.

According to Jeff, the event is being put together by the Eastern Regional branch of the NPP. He also disclosed that Nana Addo himself would be joining the fasting and praying session on Wednesday; adding that “all peace-loving Ghanaians” are invited to attend the Wednesday prayer service at Koforidua.
