In his first international visit after being elected into office, the president-elect who is awaiting his official swearing in ceremony on the 7th of January 2017, said the next four years must see a meaningful impact on the ordinary Ghanaian.

“I am extremely concerned, that the next four years will see a marked improvement in the living standards of the people of Ghana.

“The Ghanaian economy has taken a hit in these last three or four years but we believe with discipline, with hard work and correct set of policies we should be able to bring the country back to prosperity,” the president-elect said whilst speaking to the Governor of the Imo State in Nigeria Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, Monday.

The president-elect is on a three day visit to the most populous African country which will see him visiting the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to discuss bilateral issues that will be important to the two countries.

Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghana is endowed with lots of human and natural resources which would have to be harnessed for the greater development of the country.

The next Ghanaian leader told the Imo State governor how important the good relationship between the two countries will be for him when he is finally sworn into office.

“We value the historic relationship between the two countries. It is important that such links are established between our people and our leaders. They give confidence to our populations that we are working to try and resolve their problems and help them progress with their lives,” he said.

“The stronger the relationship between the two countries is, the better it is for the West Africa Region and the continent large,” Nana Akufo-Addo added.

Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha congratulated the next Ghanaian leader and assured him of his support once he is sworn into office.

“I think this is the right time for you to be the president of Ghana,” he said adding, on behalf of the 5 million people of this great state we shall build a bridge straight to Ghana.”

“Mr. president-elect on the 7th we shall celebrate you in Imo state,” he stated.
