Retired Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi Catholic Archdiocese Most Rev Peter Akwasi Sarpong has admonished supporters of the various political parties not to tease or intimidate aggrieved opponents when their party wins the December 7 polls.

He said teasing and unsavoury comments could spark violence which will not augur well for the country.

According to Archbishop Sarpong inciting supporters to spew venom, kill and maim one another is not the vision Ghana is pursuing.

Speaking on Abusua Entertainment hosted by Austine Wood, he encouraged parties who will lose to accept the outcome of the elections results without causing violence.

Archbishop Akwasi Sarpong entreated the electorate to vote on issues and not on tribal lines indicating that elections is not a- do- and die affair.

He entreated politicians to embark on campaigns devoid of insults and personal attacks advising Ghanaians not to be influenced by money or goodies doled out to them by politicians to win their votes.

Retired Archbishop of Kumasi diocese further entreated politicians not to use dubious means to win power.

He urged Ghanaians to maintain the peace than destabilising it through their conducts.

‘Election is about choosing candidates we believe can lead us, election is not about war, it’s about expression of views. Don’t accept bribe or fight among yourselves. Why fight or kill for somebody who wants to be in power. Allow others to also exercise their franchise.

Only one candidate will be elected as president or Member of Parliament (MP). There is no point teasing losers, those who will lose should accept the results by supporting the winners to move Ghana forward. The one who will win the elections should be a president for all and not only his party,’ he advised.

Archbishop Akwasi Sarpong, some pastors and musicians including Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Esther Nyamekye, Mary Ghansah, Yaw Sarpong, Hannah Marfo, Juliet Antwi, Victoria Safo, YABs, McAbraham, Amy Newman and others will be honoured tomorrow in Kumasi at Golden Tulip hotel dubbed ‘gospel legends awards night’.
