General Manager (GM) of Yorke Properties (YP), a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom, (GN), Mr. Felix Ograh, has debunked speculations of possible structural defects in the wake of the collapse of portions of the Nduom Sports Stadium after Sunday’s Ghana Premier League match in Elmina.
Describing the incident ‘as an act of God,’ Mr. Ograh said contractors undertook the requisite requirements and processes in modern day stadium construction.
He disclosed that the extent of damage to the stadium still amazes contractors after an inspection of the facility last Monday.
At a press briefing at the stadium premises yesterday, Mr. Ograh revealed that the technical team together with engineers and sub-contractors who did the roofing of the stadium have already visited the site with a replacement plan being drawn to complete it in the next four weeks.
“Given this incident, advice has been given to strengthen further the attachment of the roof to the building, we believe in circumstances like this, it’s only the unforeseen hand of God that averted what otherwise would have been a black Sunday,” he added.
Mr. Ograh indicated that the prerequisite facilities needed to be able to use the stadium are the field, dressing rooms and security and since these facilities were not affected they are confident the club licensing board after their inspection will pass the facility for Elmina Sharks to continue using it for their home matches.
“Groupe Nduom accepts full responsibility for everything that happened and we will continue to develop this stadium to become one of the best,” he assured.
