Dr. Nduom is in a pole position to contest in the December 7 elections after the Supreme Court affirmed a High Court’s decision for the EC to give him a chance to fix errors on his nomination forms.

The Electoral Management Body had rejected Nduom’s nomination over errors on his forms, but he has been given the all clear to correct them after battling his case from the High Court to the apex court.

Nduom, who is in the Northern region campaigning, received Monday’s ruling with joy, saying it will spur him on to “campaign hard.”

He said: “I thank the judges, God and all our supporters and everybody for your prayers. We are now going to work and campaign hard and make sure our messages get to everybody in Ghana. So that by December 7, 2016 everybody will go and give the authority to Papa Kwesi Nduom and the Progressive People’s Party.”

The seven-member Supreme Court panel in the Monday ruling asked the election management body to extend the nomination period to November 8, and allow the candidates to correct their mistakes in order to contest the polls.

The court also ordered the discontinuation of the various court cases regarding the disqualification of other presidential aspirants.

The EC disqualified Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and 12 other people from the December polls for various errors detected in their nominations.

But the High Court presided by Justice Kyei Baffuor ruled that the EC was unfair in the decision. The court said the commission failed to set a nomination period for the submission of the forms.

It said a nomination period would have determined the final day for the submission of the forms and given the EC legitimate basis to reject forms not properly filled.
