The NDC’s Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini has said that his party’s defeat in the 2016 Presidential elections was a dream come true for the Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu.

According to him Martin Amidu’s constant attempts to retrieve Woyome’s Ghc 51 million judgement debt owed the government was all a decoy aimed at giving the NDC a bad press to create the impression that the government was corrupt.

“What Martin Amidu wanted was not for the money to be retrieved but for the NDC to lose power and he got what he wanted,” Hon. Alhaji Suhuyini said.

Discussing Martin Amidu’s withdrawal of the suit filed at the Supreme Court to interrogate Woyome on ‘State of Affairs on GHOne TV, Hon. Suhuyini argued that the NDC never shirked its responsibility to retrieve Woyome’s judgment debt and that government demonstrated commitment to recover the money by initiating several legal proceedings at the court.

On his part Martin Amidu’s constant release of dossiers on the judgment debt case and pontificating them to find fault with the NDC was out of bitterness that he was stripped of his position as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

“He made the party a pledge when he lost his position that he will make sure that he will fight the NDC out of power and he succeeded. This is known to all the leading members of the NDC,” Hon. Suhuyini explained.

But his co panelist, the NPP MP for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mecer disagreed with him saying that Martin Amidu withdrew the case because the incumbent government has demonstrated commitment that it will pursue the Woyome scandal to its logical conclusion and therefore, it was important to withdraw the case.

“I expected it because government has already shown the commitment to recover the money so there is no need for Martin Amidu to pursue the case anymore” Hon. Mercer remarked.

He further stated that the NDC government never took time to study the matter to have the grip to pursue the case in court because it never bothered them.

Both were convinced that retrieving the judgment debt is good for the country and advised government not to rest on its oars until all monies due the state are paid and all alleged acts of corruptions are investigated.
