NDC Won’t Repeat past Mistakes – Mahama Promises

President John Dramani Mahama said the expansion of the National Democratic Congress electoral college is to purge the party of the past mistakes that dwindled their votes.
He said the NDC lost a total of 22 constituencies to opposition parties due to litigations after primaries, a situations he said created great disparity in the parliamentary and Presidential votes in those constituencies.
President Mahama, who was addressing the Greater Accra Region House of Chiefs at Dodowa as part of his changing lives tour of the region, said in most cases disgruntled defeated candidates either run as independent candidates or threw their weight behind opponents, thereby denying the Party the necessary votes.
The programme was attended by chiefs and elders of the region, Ministers of state and party faithful in the region.
President Mahama said the expansion of the Electoral College was the largest in West Africa and would therefore give party members at the grassroots level the opportunity to participate in the selection of their leaders.
On development projects, President Mahama said the Greater Accra region would continue to receive more schools, water projects and health facilities.
He said while government had constructed a new Teaching Hospital at the University of Ghana, expansion works had been carried out at the Ridge Hospital to establish it as the Regional hospital.
The President said Ghana Ports and Harbours is also constructing a new hospital at Community three in Tema, while Dodowa is also receiving a 120-bed District hospital to cater for the health needs of Dodowa and the surrounding communities.
He said another major hospital would be established at Adentan, while five Polyclinics would be constructed at Sege, Bortianor, Ashaiman and two other communities in the region.
On education, President Mahama said Frafraha, Lashibi, Kasei, Kuntunase and other communities would each receive new Community Day School projects with the E-Block structure; comprising 24 Classrooms each and other facilities to cater for the educational needs of the students.
He said as Traditional Authorities, the chiefs had a stake in the development of the country by playing meaningful roles that would unify the people to adhere to the developmental agenda of government.
President Mahama later inspected constructional works at the Dodowa District Hospital and held a similar meeting with the Wulomei in Accra.
