Deputy NDC Communication Director, Fred Agbenyo, says “the fact that they [HOPE Campaign] brought out the first does not mean they are the originators.”

“I think it is laughable the NPP thinking that anybody is stealing something from them. These are people who are not ready for the election,” he told Francis Abban, host of Joy FM’s Midday News, Thursday.

He said the NDC as a body has not sanctioned anybody to counter the HOPE campaign but admitted elements within the party are doing things on their own without the instruction from the party.

The NDC has once again come under a fire after it was accused of plagiarising a video put together by HOPE Campaign.

The video featured a Ghanaian, Kweku [the narrator] who doled out encouraging words to Ghanaian youth not to abandon the hope of achieving their dreams because of worsening economy.

He says a leader who will put smiles on the dimming faces of Ghanaians will emerge if they take part in the upcoming election.

Barely forty-eight hours after the video went viral on social media, another version pf the same video which extolled the achievements of President John Mahama emerged.

This angered leading members of the HOPE Campaign who believe their true intention for starting the Campaign is being distorted by elements of the governing party.

Nana Yaw, who happens to be a member of the Campaign, said the group is not affiliated to the NPP as some NDC members believe.

Reacting to the news, National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, says he was scandalized when he chanced on the distorted video produced by elements within the NDC.

According to him, the Campaign was started by “young professionals and business men” who believe the youth of Ghana need HOPE and a leader to rely on to deliver the public goods.

He admired the Campaign and its activities, but was appalled when the “NDC think HOPE should be equated to hopelessness.”

He could not comprehend why the NDC will want to plagiarise “something put together by young professionals” when it could put together its own creative piece.

This, he believes is “why the NPP has not released its manifesto as well.”

“These guys have no shame when it comes to plagiarism. They plagiarise to the extent of plagiarising something put together by young professionals,” he said.
