The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be launching its campaign today [Sunday], at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central Region, although its manifesto is not known, with barely four months to the elections in December.
The launch, themed “Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana”, will be attended by thousands of party members and sympathizers, where President John Mahama would be officially outdoored as the party’s Presidential nominee for the December polls.
The NDC have said the choice of the Central Region for the launch was a tribute to the late former President, John Evans Attah Mills, who hails from the region, four years after his passing.
Ban on drumming and noise-making lifted for NDC’s campaign launch The Oguaa Traditional Council’ ban on drumming and noise-making in the Cape Coast area, which was imposed as part of the preparations for the Fetu Afahye festival, was lifted on Friday amidst controversy just in time for the launch.
There had been reports that the governing party was mulling over possibly postponing the campaign launch due to the ban.
Hotels fully booked According to Citi Business News, Hotels and guest houses in the Central Region are cashing in heavily on the launch as almost, if not all hotel rooms from standard to suites, have been fully booked by party officials, ministers, MMDCEs, parliamentary candidates and supporters in the Cape Coast area.
The development has also led to some party faithfuls booking accommodation outside Cape Coast in areas like Saltpond, Mankessim and Takoradi in the Western Region.
The NDC has indicated that it will launch its manifesto three weeks after today’s campaign launch, whilst rubbishing claims it is delaying its manifesto release.
According to them, they have always launched the campaign before the manifesto.
