NDC Holds the Key To Kumasi’s Development

Mr. Kojo Bonsu, former Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds the keys to the development of Kumasi and the region as a whole.

According to the former KMA boss, infrastructural development of the NDC government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, and that of his two predecessors, former President Jerry John Rawlings and Professor John Evans Atta Mills, cannot be compared to the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) eight years under former President John Agyekum Kufuor, when talking about the developmental agenda of Kumasi and the region.

Speaking at the campaign launch of the NDC parliamentary candidate for Bantama, Mr. Samuel Yaw Adusei, who is also the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Bonsu indicated that the massive infrastructural development chalked by the NDC could not have been achieved, had it not been that the NDC, as a political party, has the region and the people at heart.

He mentioned that the road sector, water, educational infrastructures, health, markets and other developmental projects chalked by the NDC government are overwhelming.

He said, in spite of the fire outbreaks at the market centres, former President Kufuor and the NPP government did not address the plight of the market women in Kumasi for a lasting solution.

Mr. Bonsu, who resigned his post in July this year, said the NDC government, being a people-centered government, had taken it upon itself to address the plight of the people in the region.

He entreated the electorate in the region to show equal appreciation, by voting to retain President Mahama and his NDC government in office, to ensure more development that would improve their living standards.

Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Mensah, Minister of Works and Housing, also disclosed that no government can compare itself that of the NDC, under President Mahama, when it comes to developmental infrastructure in the Ashanti Region.

He said the government had performed creditably by putting up the Regional Hospital at Sewua, a Military Hospital at Afari, and hospitals at Kumawu and Tepa, all in the Ashanti Region.

He underscored the fact that the Kumawu water projects, when completed, would provide about 3.6 gallons of water daily to the residents, while the Konongo and Agogo water projects, with storage facilities, would provide 220,000 gallons in addition to the Kejetia Market project.

The Minister entreated the electorate to also demonstrate same by giving their votes to President Mahama and his NDC government to continue the good work.

Mr. Samuel Yaw Adusei, NDC parliamentary candidate for Bantama, also urged the electorate in the constituency to vote massively for him and the NDC, to bring positive transformation to the constituency.

He said this year’s elections are about choosing between truth and lies, competence and incompetence, when it comes to development and good governance.

Mr. Adusei said the NPP is a divided front, from the top to the bottom, a situation which compelled the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) to nearly contest the seat as an independent candidate.

He expressed the hope that considering the performance of President Mahama and the NDC, God would touch the hearts of the electorate to vote and retain the government in power and give President Mahama a second term.
