Director of Research of the party, Dr William Ahadzie, says government has done “a lot out of what we have put down there in the 2012 manifesto” despite the setbacks the party suffered within the first year.

He cited the eight months long election petition in which the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and two others, challenged the victory of President John Mahama in the Supreme Court, as one among the many challenges government battled with.

“This ends with about two and half years trying to implement something [projects] that we have put down to execute in four years,” he told Kojo Yankson, host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Thursday.

Delivering highlights of the NDC 2016 manifesto on Tuesday, President Mahama said government has put in place measures to accelerate development in the country.

He mentioned the ongoing expansion of the Ridge Hospital, the 600-bed University of Ghana Teaching Hospital, plants installed to stabilise the power challenges, road projects and the ongoing Kwame Nkrumah Interchange among others as some of the projects undertaken during his near four years term.

He was confident if given a second term he would get a lot more done including exploring the possibility of creating five addition regions to augment the existing 10 Regions for the effective administration of the country.

President Mahama said he would also create more factories across the country to absorb the teeming unemployed Ghanaian youth.

Considering government’s achievements within a short time it had to work, Dr Ahadzie said the NDC has done creditably well.

The NDC he said has not only implemented policies in its 2012 manifesto but has done “some beyond what we put in the manifesto.”

He said the 2016 manifesto which is expected to be launched on Saturday contains details of projects executed and those the party was unable to implement.
