Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists who attended the national campaign launch of the party at the Cape Coast Stadium last Sunday have expressed optimism that the party would win the 2016 election.

Beaming with confidence during separate interviews with the Daily Graphic, they were all certain that President Mahama and the NDC would win the elections slated for December 7, 2016 massively.

The Parliamentary Candidate for Korle Klottey, Dr Zanetor Rawlings, said the show of unity at the launch of the campaign amply demonstrated that the NDC had a better chance of winning.

She called on members to address all the issues within the party for a resounding victory.

“We can’t say we don’t have any issues as a party. We should address all those issues and, no doubt, we will win the elections,’’ Dr Zenator said.

She urged all to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and win the election peacefully.

Alhaji Aminu Salifu, the parliamentary candidate, Wa East, said the Wa East is an NDC seat and is confident that the party would retain the seat this year too.

He said the works of the President would make the win even easier and that they should not be complacent but work hard to ensure victory.

Mr Samuel Appiah Kubi, the Parliamentary Candidate for Offinso North, said “it is a one-touch victory and that any objective Ghanaian would vote for the NDC in this year’s general election. He stated that the party had done everything expected of a good government and was working hard to convince the people that the NDC deserved a second term.

According to him, President John Mahama was obviously the best candidate.

Ms Dorcas Dufie Osei-Boadu, the Parliamentary Candidate, Asokwa, said the various interventions in education, health and other sectors and the massive turnout at the launch was an indication that the party would win. ‘’There are no two ways about that fact.

The President has done enough to secure many of the seats in the constituencies for the many development projects all over. Ghanaians are witnesses to all these and they will be the judges,” she stressed.

Mr Owusu Ababio, parliamentary candidate, Subin, was of the view that the election would be a one-touch victory for the NDC and added that the party was a peaceful one.

“Our President is a peace-loving man and loved by the people. Above all, the people are witnessing tremendous development projects all over,’’ he said.

He said he was working hard to win the seat and retain President Mahama by a one-touch victory.

Mr Samuel Ato Amoah, parliamentary candidate, Twifo Atti Mokwa, said everything was under control.

“There is no shaking. That is not to say we are complacent. But the works of the President are evident and the NDC is surely winning,’’ he said and called on the members to work hard in the communities and make the people aware of what the NDC had done.

Mr Thomas Nassah, parliamentary candidate, Gushegu, said it was only those in opposition who saw nothing good about the government but criticised without offering any meaningful and reasonable alternatives.

He said the President had proven beyond doubt that he was committed to the development of the country.

“He is humble and noble and has worked hard to bring development to the people,” Mr Nassah said.

Mr Afram Windham Emil, the District Chief Executive, Afram Plains, stated that President Mahama and the NDC would win the elections overwhelmingly. He said the infrastructure provided in the districts within the last three-and-a-half years was enough to convince Ghanaians to retain the party.

“President Mahama has achieved more than any other president in terms of the provision of roads, education and health facilities. We are certainly winning the elections. I don’t see us losing at all”.

“Health delivery, for instance, has been brought on the doorstep of the people. There are five CHPS compounds in my district alone and the people know and see these things,” he said.

According to Mr Frank Pratt, District Chief Executive, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, the massive attendance at the launch of the campaign and the show of unity were ample demonstration that the party would win the elections.

He said Ghanaians would be the judges and expressed the hope that they would vote for development by retaining the NDC.

Mr John Wumborti-Supporter, Kumasi Kwadaso, pointed out that any truthful person would not argue about the President winning the election again and stressed that “we are all aware it is no contest; I know Ghanaians will retain our President, and whether we vote in November or December, we will win”.

He concluded that the good works of the President would retain him.
