The said national security operative, identified as Peter Sai Harrison, believed to be in his 50s, was seen threatening the auto mechanic who later gave his name as Kwabena Ntiamoah while he pointed the electric shocker in his chest area, neck and back.

The incident attracted the attention of passers-by who tried to intervene in the situation.

However, Harrison started attacking anyone who tried to intervene hitting them in the chest and pushing them away.

Assault

A Daily Graphic reporter who arrived at the scene and saw Harrison torturing the mechanic with the electric shocker and intermittently hitting the victim with the object was also attacked when she tried to stop the said national security operative.

Another young woman who identified herself as Yaa Asantewaa received beatings from Harrison when she tried to intervene.

Some young men and women in the area who claimed Harrison was noted for his violent behaviour claimed they were fed up with him.

They said Harrison claimed where Ntiamoah had parked his car while chatting with the woman was the entrance to his house.

According to them, this was not the first time he had assaulted any driver who parked a vehicle in that space.

It took the timely intervention of a Police Patrol Team from the Sowutoum District Police Command to restore calm in the area.

Upon the instructions of the Odorkor District Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Abraham Aquaye, Harrison was apprehended and taken to the Odorkor Police station.

Later, the victim and two of the assaulted persons, in the company of some witnesses filed a formal complaint at the Odorkor Police Station.

Ntiamoah, the victim who had been tortured with the electric shocker, later showed the Daily Graphic reporter his left red eye and a mark on his nose which he said he sustained as a result of slaps received from Harrison.

Victim’s story

In an interview, Ntiamoah told the Daily Graphic that he lived at McCathy Hills and had come to Odorkor to buy a mobile phone for his wife in the company of his brother and the brother’s girlfriend.

He said he parked his car by the road side and when he returned he saw Harrison who asked him to move the car but before he could drive out of the place, Harrision slapped him on both cheeks and pointed the electric shocker at him.

Ntiamoah said he quickly drove ahead and parked the car properly before he got down to inquire from Harrison what he had done to warrant the slaps but Harrison rather got angry and assaulted him with the electric shocker.

At the police station, Harrison on his part said Ntiamoah had parked his car in front of a Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by him, marking it impossible for him to move his car. The white Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GS 9831-09 with a headlight mounted on top is suspected to be a National Security vehicle.

He said for more than an hour he saw Ntiamoah, chatting with a woman and when he asked Ntiamoah to move his car it resulted in an argument.

He claimed Ntiamoah hit him in the stomach with an object before he also used the electric shocker, an assertion, Ntiamoah and other witnesses denied.

The victims were given medical forms after the police had taken their statements while the suspected was cautioned and granted bail later.
