The Chiefs and people of the Afife Traditional Area, in the Ketu North constituency, on Sunday, November 20, 2016, conferred the Chieftaincy title ‘Torgbui Dunenyo Dzigbodi I’ on the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Nana Addo’s Chieftaincy title according to the chiefs, came as a result of his contribution towards national development, justice and peace over the years. During the short ceremony, President of the Afife Traditional Area, Torgbui Adzaklo V, commended the NPP Flagbearer for his exemplary act of accepting defeat in previous elections.

He said that Nana Addo’s decision to put Ghana first, by resorting to the use of the courts in the aftermath of the disputed 2012 elections, showed great patriotism. He also hailed the NPP Flagbearer’s acceptance of the split 5-4 verdict of the Court, even though he disagreed with the verdict. All these according to Torgbui Adzaklo V, were enough proof of Nana Addo’s love for Ghana.

You have exhibited total commitment to peace, patience, selflessness, transparency, accountability, incorruptibility. In this regard, we confer on you the title Torgbui Dunenyo Dzigbodi I, Torgbui Adzaklo V said.

The NPP Flagbearer in his acceptance speech, gave the assurance that he will take his new role very seriously and deliver as expected.

Nana Addo’s enstoolment  came hours after some Ghanaian voters believed to be resident in Togo, reportedly set up protest banners ahead of his visit to the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region. The protests were said to be in response to the NPP’s claims that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has plans to bring in Togolese to vote in the 2016 elections.
