In a statement issued by the think tank and jointly signed by both the Executive and Deputy Executive Directors, Nii Tettey Tetteh and Charles Kwadade respectively said, logo unveiled on February 9 ‘’is a logo cut out from the International Festival of Cultural Diversity without any acknowledgment of the intellectual property owner. This is totally a display of poverty ideas,’’ it added.

The statement also described the logo as a sign of malfunctioning of original thoughts and ideas by the committee in charge of [email protected] celebrations. Ghana the statement further lamented should not be seen by the world to be engaging in intellectual property theft.

STRANEK is therefore calling for a new logo to be designed and devoid of any intellectual theft to give the [email protected] celebration a ‘’unique touch.’’   The statement added, ‘’we hope the necessary actions will be taken in the interest of the country.’’   President Nana Akufo-Addo on February 9, 2017 unveiled the logo and on the theme.

We are an industrious and determined people and together we can and must build our beloved nation. It is appropriate then, that the theme of this programme should be one of Reflection, Celebration, Challenge and Togetherness. Nana Addo in his speech said: ‘’Our theme is “Mobilizing for Ghana’s Future” and the accompanying logo can be seen on the screen. This logo symbolizes the diversity and unity of our country, and the aspirations of the Ghanaian people for a dignified and prosperous future.’’

Below is the full statement

[email protected] LOGO INFESTED WITH INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THEFT- STRANEK*   Upon a microscopic check, we at Strategic Thinkers Network (STRANEK) point out to the fact that the [email protected] logo has traits of intellectual property theft.

The [email protected] logo unveiled at Flagstaff House on Thursday, February 9 is a logo cut out from the International Festival of Cultural Diversity without any acknowledgment of the intellectual property owner. This is totally embarrassing and a display of poverty of ideas.

It is also a sign of malfunctioning of original thoughts and ideas by the committee in charge of the [email protected] celebrations. Ghana must not be seen by the world to be engaging in intellectual property theft.

STRANEK humbly asks H. E. the President to take notice of such intolerable actions. It is befuddling to put our motherland to a pedestal of shame which can be avoided.

We as well ask H.E. President to hire people with original thoughts and ideas to maintain the sanctity of Ghana our motherland.   [email protected] must be celebrated free from intellectual property theft. Indeed, the diversity and unity of Ghana as well as the aspirations of Ghanaians for a dignified cum prosperous future cannot be infested with a thievery of intellectual property.

H.E. the President must call the committee in charge of [email protected] celebrations to independently do something new devoid of intellectual property theft to give this celebration a unique touch.   We fervently hope the necessary actions will be taken in the interest of the country.

Surely, we are all involved in building our motherland Ghana.

Signed. Nii Tettey Tetteh
