Naabu Didn’t Deserve To Be NDC Candidate – Ras Mubarak

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak says his colleague NDC MP for Yunyoo, Bipoba Naabu must learn to resolve his grievances with the party in the backroom.

According to him, there is no justification for his public outburst when he’d refuse to meet the Kwasi Botchway committee, looking into the defeat of the party in 2016 elections vis a vis his concerns about the party.

“Why the rush to go on radio and personally attack your comrades. I feel very saddened by the personal attacks of Felix Ofosu Kwakye and a few others of our colleagues…The foot soldiers are really hurt that the NDC is no longer in office. If we have lost an election, we take collective responsibility. Mistakes were made in terms of strategy, there is absolutely no doubt about that, but the fact that mistakes were made in terms of the strategy,we all have to share in the blame. We also need to take a backroom decision on how we can restrategize and win back power.”

His comments come in the wake of Mr. Bipoba Naabu’s scathing attacks on Mahama and ‘his boys’ who according to him, must share in the blame for the NDC’s worst electoral defeat in 2016.

The Yunyoo legislator, Joseph Bipoba Naabu, Monday went public and gave detailed account as to why the party lost the 2016 general elections.

In his view, President John Dramani Mahama appointed “young boys who couldn’t even hire a chamber and a hall” as ministers of State to help him run the economy knowing very well that they had no experience in politics.

He also revealed that that the arrogance of Mahama’s Ministers also contributed to the defeat the NDC saw in 2016.

But commenting on the development on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Ras Mubarak said “If the party had decided to take him[Naabu] on just like he wants others to be taken on, he wouldn’t even have been our candidate in 2012.”

He added: “That is how open, and fair the NDC has been in embracing everybody, in making sure that everybody is at the big table.”

“…This is a candidate who had defied party regulations, contested as an independent in 2004, lost that seat. Contested as independent candidate in 2008, nearly lost the seat, and then emerged as the party’s candidate in 2012. So if the party has been good enough to give him a second chance, lets focus and give President Mahama the same chance. Everybody deserves a second chance. “
