Some members of Parliament have denied seeing copies of the official report of the ad hoc committee tasked to look into the bribery allegation against leadership of the Appointments Committee.

As of Thursday, a day after the report was laid before Parliament, the MPs say they are yet to be given copies.

On Wednesday, when the Joe Ghartey-chaired committee presented its report to the House, Speaker Mike Oquaye postponed debate on the document with the pretext that members would have to familiarize themselves with its content.

Motion and subsequent discussion of the 50-page report was thus postponed by a day.

But speaking to 3FM’s Mercydalyne Lokko, MP for Sawla/Tuna/Kalba Constituency Andrew Chiwitey expressed doubt if they would be able to go through all the pages before any possible deliberations.

He said only the relevant portions may be perused and that will not be a worry at all.

Ashaiman Constituency MP Ernest Norgbey described the situation as normal.

“For some of the reports, we sit in the chamber before they distribute them and we debate on them. So it is not a surprise.”

The key actors in the scandal are Committee chairman Joe Osei-Owusu, Ranking Member Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed, members Mahama Ayariga, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Alhassan Suhuyini as well as Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko.
