A young man, simply known as Joe, at Assin Atintan in the Assin North Municipality of the Central Region, has pummeled his pregnant wife, Ama Ataa, to death.
Joe, who is now at large, fled after committing the crime due to the fear of being arrested by the police.
Speaking to Today after the incident, Nana Yaw Entsie, who reported the incident, stated that the deceased who hailed from Assin Dansami went to Joe at Atintan to collect money for her upkeep and that of their one-and-a-half-year old son, but the latter refused to give her the money with the excuse that he had no money.
According to him, the deceased managed to get hold of Joe’s phone and discovered that he had GH₵200 in his mobile money wallet, “so she confronted him which resulted into a hot exchange, forcing the suspect to beat the deceased mercilessly.
He stated that Joe pushed the deceased on the ground and helplessly kicked her in the abdomen and left her to her fate on the ground.
The deceased later reported the incident to her sister and mother who took her to the hospital when they realised she was bleeding and complaining of severe headache and abdominal pains.
She was later admitted at Assin Fosu Hospital where she gave up the ghost.
The case has since been reported at the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command for investigation and to hunt for the culprit.
