Presenting the fact of the case, Chief Prosecutor, Inspector Timothy Amoako, stated that the accused person, Desmond Owusu, is a resident of Kromoase new site, a suburb of Kumasi, while the victim is his daughter.

The prosecutor explained that the victim completed senior high school in 2013 but failed in her Mathematics paper.

Inspector Timothy Amoako noted that the victim informed her father that she needed to rewrite the paper and demanded some money from her father.

But the accused told her that until she comes to stay with him, he will not cater for her again.

The complainant relocated to his father’s house at Kromoase in September 2016.

The prosecutor added that upon her (victim’s) arrival the accused person started making advances on the complainant after she had spent one week with him.

Inspector Amoako added that the accused succeeded in having sex with the victim one dawn when she was sleep.

The complainant upon seeing her father having sex with her intended to break the news but was threatened with death by her father.

The accused person told the complainant that having sexual intercourse with her will enable him get money to cater for her.

The accused again succeeded and forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim on five different occasions in his room.

During the fifth sexual encounter which occurred on October 17, 2016 at about 8.00 a.m., the complainant told the accused person that she could no longer continue because he (the accused) is her father and the act was killing her morally.

On Friday, October 21, 2016 at about 10:30 p.m., the accused person attempted to have sex with the complainant again which she resisted.

He then became furious and subjected her to beatings. The complainant then ran back to her mother at Breman and told her uncle about her ordeal.
