Majority Leader Should ‘eat Back His Words’ – Suhuyini

Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini has urged Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to retract accusations against him and admonish MP for Manhyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to be of good behaviour.

This follows a video that emerged following a near brawl in parliament on Thursday, March 30, between Mr Suhuyini and Dr Prempeh.

In the video, Dr Prempeh was seen making gestures at someone who was not readily captured by the recording.

However, Mr Suhuyini argued that the tape vindicated him as he was not the one who initiated the misunderstanding.

According to him, Dr Prempeh had called him “mad” and left him with no choice but to retaliate.

“I told him [Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh] that he was equally mad, and that is when my colleagues came to calm me down. They didn’t think I should respond in like manner,” he said.

“He did it on purpose and that is why it was necessary I made him aware that he didn’t have monopoly over such conduct,” Mr Suhuyini told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Monday, 3 April.

He further indicated that he was surprised the Majority leader had pointed an accusing finger at him the next day as being the cause of the incident. He said he would be glad if Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu rather called Dr Prempeh to order.

“What is shocking to me is the attempt to misrepresent what happened on Thursday, on Friday morning, when the whole Majority Leader, Honourable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, on another network suggested that I was responsible for what may have happened, the degeneration, after the Speaker rose and sought to advise me. Well, now that Honourable Napo’s video is out I hope he will be very magnanimous enough to eat back his words and at best direct them at Honourable Napo.

“Even if he thinks I was equally guilty, then he should share same advice with him [Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh],” he added.
