Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Linda Kwafo has accused President Mahama of exhibiting bad faith in confirming the appointments of heads of CHRAJ and NCCE respectively.

President John Dramani Mahama who is exiting office on January 7 sworn in Josephine Nkrumah as Commissioner of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and Joseph Akanjolenur Whittal as Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on Tuesday.

Both were deputies in their respective institutions and were in acting capacities as heads of the two institutions until their confirmation.

Lawyer Philip Addison yesterday filed a suit on behalf of Patrick Yaw Boamah who is the NPP MP for Okaikoi Central.

He is seeking to restrain the President from making anymore appointments barely two weeks to his handing over of power.

Meanwhile, Linda Kwafo believes President Mahama ought to have made some consultations with the incoming government before making some crucial appointments.

She argued that, there are no laws preventing him from signing contracts but questions the timing.

“It’s unfortunate our constitution doesn’t have a provision for that but if you are a government and civil society calls on you to do a number of things and you wait till 16 days for you to leave office to do appointments, couldn’t it be in the interest of the country for you to do so in consultation with the transition team for them to be on the same page to avert abrogation of contracts to curb judgement debts? But in the absence of law, wouldn’t it be most appropriate to wait?’’
