Former Attorney General Martin Alamisi Amidu says President John Dramani Mahama is bent on ensuring that the scheduled examination of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome on Thursday does not come off.

The Citizen Vigilante pointed out President Mahama’s posture immediately after last week’s decision by the Supreme Court smacks of a leader who is jittery about the revelations that will be witnessed in court.

“Is this then not a President (with the Executive Authority including all policing powers) who is intimidating me simply for exercising my constitutional right to access to justice before the Supreme Court?

“The conduct of the President convinces me as a senior and foundation member of the governing NDC, that he would do everything in his power to ensure that the examination orally on oath of the lootee for whom government looted the public purse, may not come on 24th November 2016.

“The President can further subvert the cause of justice so that the people of Ghana do not hear the truth about the loot of the public purse  led until after the elections on 7th December 2016,” Mr Amidu stated in a press release on Monday, November 21, 2016.

He called on “patriotic” members of the public “to dissuade such intentions”.

Mr Amidu is leading an anti-graft initiative that has seen him willfully join the trial of Mr Woyome.

Though the Supreme Court ruled that the GH¢51.2 million judgement debt paid to the supposed NDC financier was wrongful, the retrieval has lagged with the Attorney General recently writing to discontinue the case.

But Mr Amidu filed an application to orally examine Mr Woyome, a request which was granted by Anin Yeboah JSC on November 15, 2016.

Mr Woyome has, however, vowed to resist the oral examination “by the last drop of my blood,” accusing the Court of having been misled by Mr Amidu.
