The communications director at the Presidency Eugene Arhin told Starr News that the unavailability of the vehicles has forced the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to resort to vehicles he used during the 2016 campaign for trips outside Accra.

Mr. Arhin added that the saloon car being used by Akufo-Addo within Greater Accra is a 2007 BMW model which was purchased during the Ghana@50 celebrations.

“As I speak to you there is only one vehicle he has been using during his rounds in Accra. You definitely have to ask yourself where are all the vehicles…President Akufo-Addo is currently using a 2007 BMW model purchased by the state during the Ghana @50 celebrations…that is what he is using. So where are the cars?”

Mr. Arhin told Naa Dedei Tettey on Starr Today Tuesday.

But Mr. Apaak in a reaction described the claims as strange stating that all government officials handed over their vehicles before they left office.

“It is a strange occurrence because as far as I know all cars that we used should be in the custody of the state…I will find it a bit more strange if indeed the claims he [Eugene Arhin] made can be justified.

Asked whether he returned his official vehicle before he left office, Mr. Apaak said “I did and I know many of our colleagues also handover their cars.”

Apaak added “the only vehicles that we were allowed to pay as part of auction are the salon cars that we had used for four years…so to say that 200 cars are missing I find it strange and one that we cannot fathom with.”
